I was born and raised in Missouri and currently live in the San Francisco Bay Area - specifically, Berkeley - where I raised my son who emptied his part of the nest a couple of years ago and is an EMT and ski patroller in Utah. I am a writer and educator, and I'm also a St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan, an animal lover, a morning person, an adoptee, and a chocolate chip cookie enthusiast. I launched a regular writing practice in the summer of 2021 on my Instagram account, @short_longhand. Several of the poems there can also be found here. Poems recently published in Duck Head Journal, Fall 2021, Sixfold, Winter 2021 SWWIM Every Day's poem of the day 8/22/22, and my story about Ralph the Hamster, Funeral for a Friend, appears in Zooanthology (Sweetycat Press), August, 2022.
